Oil filter AMSOIL or Wix

Wix Oil filter

Agree about the WIX filter, has better end caps on the filter vs the oem filter that you just press the oil line tube ends into it, not a great design imo.

Pros: better end caps
Cons: not great design

Wix Oil filter

That OEM filter is probably made at the same factory as an off the shelf filter from pretty much any automotive parts store. Hell, I'm doing an oil change tomorrow and I'm going to get a Wix 57002 and some Pennzoil.

Part number: 57002

AMSOIL Oil filter

With a good filter (Fram synthetic endurance, Purolator boss, Amsoil) and a modern high performance oil such as Amsoil signature and Pennzoil ultra platinum you are good for at least 17.5k with the Amsoil and 12.5k with the Pennzoil under 'severe' conditions.

Pros: good filter, high performance
Mileage: 17500 km

AMSOIL Oil filter

I'm currently using Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and an Amsoil filter. 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE with 44,000+ miles. Several used oil analyses flagged high fuel dilution so I want the thicker Euro oil in there and also change it early every 5,000 miles.

Cons: high fuel dilution
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 44000 km

Wix Oil filter

Big pass on WIX filters. I purchased two 57055XP from Rockauto. Both came without the gaskets attached and the wrong baseplate attached at the factory. There is a well-known defect where 20F instead of 20M baseplates were used. Made a warranty claim with MANN+HUMMEL many months ago. Basically, they ignore you or tell you to F.O.

Cons: missing gaskets, wrong baseplate
Part number: 57055XP
