AMSOil Signature oil and their filter, AMSOil trans fluid.
I am running an STP filter on it.
I run AMSoil European Blend (specifically for VW,AUDI, BMW,) and the filter as well. I change my oil around 4-5K depending on my driving during that time. My oil always comes out slightly 'browned' .... never dark.
I run the 5w30 Amsoil 15,000 mile stuff in our 1.8t... it gets changed once a year. Every 4 months i put a new filter on it and top it off. The samples i've sent in and been returned all looked good if the car is just a driver with some occasional track time i wouldn't sweat running Amsoil or any other really good synthetic 10k or more.
amsoil makes a filter that filters better than stock
I just run Amsoil for 13000k, and change a filter in between. Seems to work fine for me.. and it's preety cheap if you buy the stuff from Amsoil!!
i have 107000 on my wolfie now amsoil 10-30 and their filter cleans better than stockers i change at 10000 miles no problem change sooner for short trips especially in winter redline mt 90 in tranny
Using Amsoil 10-40 and an Amsoil filter, Blackstone said the oil looked clean and ready to keep going at 5.5k miles. Changed the filter and added a quart to replace what was lost to the test and filter change, and kept running it. They were still happy with the results that came at 10k miles. This test was on a a 93 octane APR 1.8T that's run hard constantly.
I prefer Amsoil and their filter...I drive about 187 miles per day when training and the right oil makes all the difference. I tried Mobile 1 the first time but think Amsoil works better.
When I first purchased my VW, I could drive it how ever far in whatever temperature and wouldn't get any beeps or blinks. I brought it to a friend to do an oil change and he threw 5W30 in it with a STP oil filter. After that oil change, if the car was driven too long the light would blink and the ding would chime. If you revved to about 2300~ RPM, the noises and blinking would stop. I guess that is a temporary fix, but all I did was change the oil to 10W30 and haven't gotten any noises yet. I guess 5W30 is too thin and can't build up enough oil pressure? I'm not too sure.
