I 've been changing the oil at 1000 miles first, after break in,on every new car i've owned since 1982(bought 20 new cars & trucks) without ever having an engine issue with any vehicle that i have owned. After that, depending on your driving habits, 3-5K internals. *Liquid Moly Engine Flush *Liquid Moly 0W-30 Premium Synthetic *Liquid Moly Ceratec oil additive

Pros: no engine issues
Vehicle: Ford Mustang
Mileage: 1000 km

Liqui Moly is the one that has some sort of scientific backing for it; During WW2 it was found that adding Molybdenum to oil significantly reduced engine damage in aircraft engines that had experienced oil loss in combat situations but been landed safely. I am currently trialling it in my 27y/o Saab and can report a reduction in engine noise and slightly smoother revving.

Pros: reduction in engine noise, smoother revving
Cons: makes oil look dirty
Vehicle: Saab

Lucas Oil additives

My old car was sitting for a year because my sister wanted to drive a bmw. Neglected it. Went to get it back yesterday and oil was under the dipstick, and engine knocked. I added Lucas oil some $18 additive, and filled rest up with oil, was only a half quart under the stick so it took a whole quart. Quieted by half almost immediately, drove 2 hours back home and engine is silent!!

Pros: engine is silent
Vehicle: BMW

I add 1 bottle of mos2 to my 5.7 hemi in my 2008 ram after every other oil change and just send it until the next change. Extremely noticeable different in engine noise and operation.

Pros: noticeable difference in engine

Almost every vehicle I've put Lucas oil additives (stabilizer mostly) into smoke for a little bit... then it goes away.

Pros: smoke goes away
Cons: vehicle smokes

it's not the OIL that made my valvetrain noise worse....it just may be the Lucas additive. I was thinking that it might be bad when I was pouring it in, too; that stuff is like thick, sticky glue! Maybe the thickness of the stuff just isn't coating the lifters, because I can't believe how bad they sound.

Cons: thick, sticky glue
Vehicle: Volkswagen
