Just changed the ignition coils. Fixed it!! I recommend getting BOSCH or an OEM equivalent brand.
my issue was the same which ended up being coils and hpfp
since you changed the coils ( Bosch is best ) I would look at the fuel next.
When you buy on Amazon, make sure you buy directly from the manufacturer. You are right. A bosch ignition coil costs $34 at the official bosch store in amazon, while it costs $60 at advanced auto parts.
If you do replace a coil, go with OEM or quality aftermarket parts. Cheap coils cause new problems. The Hitachi coils on RockAuto are probably alright.
I replaced all the spark plugs as well as the four ignition coils (new Bosch coils). After repair, the car runs perfectly and I no longer have any hiccups while driving.
I got the coil conversion kit from import car parts and GD 2.0l coils. The new age coils needed to be trimmed a little from the edges to fit. I bought hitachi coils instead of oem diamond ones and saved a lot of money. They work perfectly.
Found another store and borrowed vehicle to get a Bosch. Swapped out the carquest one and SEEMED FIXED AGAIN…same thing, ran good for about 5 miles and went back to same symptoms.
Probably the coils. The Bosch coils I’ve used in the past on my 330Ci (same coils) lasted maybe 20K. Delphi are much better.
Stick with the stock Delphi’s. I went with Bosch recently and half of them died within a day (N55). FCP swapped them out, no questions asked, but still a PITA to do the work multiple times.
I chose the cheaper Bosch ignition coil. When I got home, I realized the spring inside was significantly shorter than my old coil's spring. I made no risk of putting this in and brought it back. I learned that Bosch parts used to be made only in Germany and were excellent, but now many are made in the US or China and are poor quality. The one I got was definitely not the German quality.
