FWIW, I got an APR Stage 1+ tune on my '13 CC at about 30k miles. Blew one of the stock coils within a month. Replaced with red tops and new plugs and have been good since then (19k miles).
I had the same deal, but none of the similar error codes. Verdict: it's probably your ignition coil. Overtime they crack SOOOOO SLIGHTLY that they let in moisture and you're boned. I snagged the Huco cheap one, been fixed ever since. I finally saw the cracks in the old one when I took it off and it was easy to change. I have a 1997 Golf GTI 2.0 8v
I got it. All good now. I swapped a Meyle coil (probably original right?) Out for or a used known good Huco. Knock at idle is GONE and she reves right up!
glad to hear its fixed i had just recieved and replaced my coil to day(mine was HUCO brand)! And the car fires right up now in rainy or wet weather.
As stated APR coils are know to not be as good as OE/OEM. I have seen a lot of people with APR coils chasing misfires and the replace with OEM and it’s fixed. Even with new APR this has happened.
Options like APR's and RS3 coils offer very little if at all over factory other than looking pretty.
Hugo coils are garbage, I've only seemed to of had luck with the oem ignition componets on both aba and AAA
The new Chinese coil quickly craped out also - but not as dramatically as the old one. I had already ordered a huco coil so when it arrived, I returned the Chinese coil for a full refund. It's all good now
The HUCO coil simply popped and failed while driving off at an intersection, no cracks, no water.....just failed.
My ignition coil failed on Sunday. It was a replacement I purchased 5 years ago (brand name HUCO).
