Headlights Morimoto or OEM Mazda

OEM Mazda Headlights

I swapped my wife's headlight on her Mazda CX-5 after she hit a deer at <30mph. Surprisingly the damage was just to the headlight and a few small cracks on her bumper. $500 great condition ebay headlight swap and looks like new.

Pros: headlight looks like new
Vehicle: Mazda

Morimoto Headlights

Morimoto are street legal, they’re rated to 50,000 hours use. I’ve had mine for 4 years, been very happy with them.

Pros: street legal, long lifespan, good performance

I did the same exact thing. This is what I got [Morimoto mini](https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bixenon-morimoto-mini-h1-stage-3?quantity=1) . Installation instructions aare available online and it required putting the headlight in the oven to take the cover off. It was pretty easy. 5 years later and still works and i use high beams frequently. You'll have to do some custom work to find some place to hold the ballasts in place in the engine bay. Very high quality product.

Pros: high quality product, still works
Cons: custom work required

Finally got around to getting these signature headlights installed. They look soooo good! They are OEM halos and fit perfectly. I’m surprised that there’s no programming involved at all. Everything just works and I guess Mazda made them plug and play. Took about an hour to do the whole thing but definitely worth it!

Pros: look good, fit perfectly

Yeah the headlights may be the single most replaced part on this car. Their reliability drags the rest of the vehicle down. At least it’s not powertrain.

Cons: reliability drags vehicle down

OEM Mazda Headlights

I just fixed my 2016 Mazda6 for the second time through insurance. First time was a few years ago where the other was at fault and it was about $2500 for front bumper and grill OEM. This time they claimed it was my fault and repaired fender, bumper, headlight for also about $2500 after market parts. The next month my insurance went up from $700/6 mo to $1000/6 mo.

Cons: insurance rates went up
Vehicle: Mazda

Those are shitty aftermarket lights, that are on par with the completely useless factory halogen lights. Yes they need aimed.

Cons: shitty aftermarket lights
