I have the valeo smf kit and vr6 clutch on my 1.8t (different flywheel but same idea) They work fine, you just get a little more drivetrain noise and rattle at idle but no big deal. You might loose a little hwy mpg (.5-1.0) but no biggie
When I swapped in the gti 02q 6 speed, I just ordered an oem style gti FSI clutch kit with a solid fly wheel made by Valeo. I didn't opt for a lightened flywheel and really like the solid flywheel compared to the oem dual mass flywheel.
Getting back to the original topic, I just installed the 2nd Valeo single mass conversion on my GF's TDI with 205K. The car was shaking like Michael J Fox, now it's as smooth as a Miles Davis solo.
You can buy a brand new Sachs flywheel from rockauto.com for $50. I recommend a Genuine Sachs Cultch Superset (Sachs factory packaged clutch set).
Bought this kit for my 337... after the slave cylinder went on it. Thumbs up on the kit overall, though some slight flywheel chatter... but had new poly mount inserts done on the tranny mount and dougbone mount.
I installed a Valeo kit on my brothers TDI with 280K on it. I must say that I was extremely impressed with the quality and fit. I thought the flywheel would be porous, but it was a good casting. It was a huge improvement over the shaking engine.
well got the valeo single mass flywheel conversion installed. i havent really been beating on it because i am still breaking in. it seems to be holding my k04 frankenturbo for now
I have it and love it (vr6/g60 flywheel combo) Its holding up fine and I have a ko4 wich puts out alot of torque low end and hasnt had any problems.
