Engine oil VALVOLINE or OEM Mazda
Valvoline protect and restore has more detergents than any other I believe to clean out thew gunk. I've been running it in my car for 3 oil changes now.
I've seen lots of videos showing the Valvoline restore and protect oil helping to clean engines. If you go that route I'd recommend replacing the oil filter after 500 miles then again at 2500 miles to keep the filters new for any gunk that gets freed up.
Change the oil at a minimum, and do it regularly. Use a quality synthetic high mileage oil and change it again in a couple thousand miles, then change on regular 5k mile intervals.
Use Valvoline Restore and Protect oil if possible
Valvoline full synthetic, 5w-20, She has 151k and counting.
Use only Valvoline restore and protect every 5 k miles. Keeps engine clean keeps and oil use normal
If it's burning oil try a few change intervals with Valvoline Restore and Protect. It's supposed to remove deposits on the piston rings and reduce oil consumption.
What I would do is have the oil changed but make sure you use Valvoline Restore & Protect and a new quality filter (OEM Toyota, Wix, Mobil 1). Drive the car about 1600km, then do the oil change again using new oil and filter, drive again for 1600km, do it a 3rd time.
I went to Valvoline once, oil pan emptied itself onto their floors the moment I started the engine. Joking aside I think it's perfectly fine to go to Valvoline, I go there often bringing my own oil and filter, that way I know it's the right oil and it's good quality stuff.
I do believe that Valvoline R and R can cause oil leaks. I have noticed that in a couple of cars.
