Engine oil Shell or MOTUL

Shell Engine oil

The oil type is likely fine, but the viscosity isn't. Ignore what the book says, get the 5W30 out of there. The PDs love to eat cams, and running 5W30 makes the problem worse. Me personally, I run Shell Rotella T6 5W40.

Cons: cams love to eat

I would recommend Motul.

I’ve got Motul Sport 5W30 for my MY12 XV, which ain’t a turbo ofcourse????

But next time I’ll go for sport 5W40, as it’s better for long driving in temperatures like 30(+) degrees Celsius outside.

The Sport range is by the way also good again low speed pre-ignition.

Pros: good low speed pre-ignition
Vehicle: Subaru XV

MOTUL Engine oil

I am currently using Motul X clean EFE 5w30 using it because it was Tuner/shop recommended by Dmann/Felix Performance who did change for me prior to a tune/dyno and I haven't switched back.

Pros: Tuner/shop recommended

Shell Engine oil

Shell advance long ride or power you have two choices for fully synthetic trust me dude once you try shell there's no going back castrol is the worst for Royal Enfield and motul is better suited for high compression engines like KTM etc

Pros: fully synthetic, no going back
Cons: castrol is the worst

MOTUL Engine oil

I have used 7100 10w40 in hornet 2.0 .recommend was 10w30

Bike is smoother compared to honda synthetic oil.

But the only issue is there was rpm fluctuats between 2k to 2.5k rpm, till the engine heats like 2 to 5 minutes after starting the engine

Pros: Bike is smoother
Cons: rpm fluctuats

Shell Engine oil

I run Shell Rotella T6 15W-40 diesel engine oil in my Versys. It has all the ratings necessary for a motorcycle engine and a wet clutch, and it is a quarter of the cost of bike oils.

Pros: quarter of the cost

Shell Engine oil

I think factory recommendation is Rotella but honestly you can go with any high quality oil. I have used Rotella, Castrol, and Valvoline synthetics in my 500 and I honestly don’t think it matters.

Pros: high quality oil
Cons: doesn’t think it matters
