I have an Octavia 2.5 vRS TDI and it has 450k km now, it only drank 5w30 and never an issue, not even in cold winters and I had a few -25 starts and it started right away, at the first key turn.

Pros: easy cold winter starts
Mileage: 450000 km

RAVENOL Engine oil

Even Ravenol, which is pretty expensive since it is made in Germany from Group V base stock. Great stuff.

Pros: great stuff
Cons: pretty expensive

Last month I replaced the valve stem seals and it helped massively with the smoke. It doesn't really smoke much anymore, there's definitely still small puffs when taking off quickly, but nothing that I can see in the mirror.

Pros: helped massively with smoke
Cons: still small puffs
Vehicle: BMW
