Engine oil OEM Toyota or RED LINE
Redline is great, used it for years in a track car.
My STI also used it for a while (0w40), but then switched to Rotella.
Redline user have been since I picked up my 04 WRX wagon two years ago. Auto crossed and rally crossed. Works great have had zero issues, also at 170,000 miles on the original engine and still running strong.
On 0w16 the engine is smoother, more responsive, quieter and consuming about 0.2L to 0.5L less fuel per 100 km.
Toyota OEM oil is very high quality stuff with lots of wonderful additives that are good for a long lasting engine.
I use Redline, similar quality and price to Amsoil, without the MLM BS.
I’ve been happy with the 0w20 in my 1.8l Corolla.
In my experience of trying many different oils, what I think are the best, as far as the engine running cool and smooth shifting are: 1. Redline 15w50
10w30 toyota motor oil sa gas (vios, wigo)
I check the oil a couple times a month, mostly because it's leaking oil a bit and needs a top-off every thousand miles or so.
Brought it in for 5k ToyotaCare at the dealership I bought it from. Used wrong engine oil (at least they listed wrong on the service sheet but promised they did use 0w20) - GRC is only model where 5k or 6 month oil changes are standard. 2500 miles if driven hard. Fucked up the trans oil I asked them to change - used wrong oil type. Fucked up tcase and rear diff oils. Found oil spilled on some pieces of the subframe. Of the 2 test drives they did doing the warranty covered alignment they had 10+ drive pulse hard acceleration /braking/cornering alerts on both 4 mile drives. I changed the engine oil, trans, tacsee, rear diff, cleaned oil they spilt after picking it back up. They said they'd corrected their errors only after I got Toyota corporate involved. I didn't trust them to do anything so corrected all myself.
