I use Idemitsu Wankel Racing Oil. 10w30, I think.
Idemitsu all day. It’s synthetic but what needs to be emphasized is the ingredient blend is purpose designed for a rotary to make the right lube + burn.
I've been running that exact oil in my rx8 for about 1k km now and its still as smooth as ever
i am of the mindset of using oil from the region. my GTI is a german car and gets liquimoly, a german oil. my toyota/subaru is Japanese, Idemitsu is a japanese oil (and the oem supplier for Subaru). i have 5w30 in it now.
I've been running Idemitsu oil in the XT and the wife's Crosstrek for the last four and five years and have been happy with it.
You’ll be fine, idemitsu is a bit of a rotary specialist when it comes to fluids
I paid $15.85 per US quart for Toyota Genuine 0W8 oil in Canada.
Do it, new engines throw off a lot of burs and metal particulates before the parts get seated. I changed the oil on my 2023 venza limited at 950miles. Listen to the car care nut master Toyota tech who sez change the oil at first 1kmiles. He cuts open his filter after 1k miles and the filter is full of metal particles.
its really only an issue on track if youre running sticky tires. running 0.5-1.0qt overfill seems to be a decent solution on track
I mistakenly put 0w20 in ~1000 miles ago, and though my engine hasn't fallen out while I driving I've seen ~5-10% loss in mpgs and it's a little louder than it was with 0w16.
