Engine oil OEM Mazda or FUCHS

OEM Mazda Engine oil

From my personal experience, I used to use Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oils, which are really high-quality oils. However, I did notice a big difference when I began using the OEM Mazda oil. I don't know what is so different about it, but my engine runs much more smoothly and very quietly. When I am at a stop light, I don't even feel the engine running, it's gotten that quiet, and I just hit over 100k miles.

Pros: engine runs smoothly, very quietly
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 160934 km

Remember that the rotary engine burns oil by design and does not particularly like eating synthetics. Expect to use old fashioned dino juice and change your oil every 3000 miles.

Pros: old fashioned dino juice
Cons: burns oil by design
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 4828 km

My 15 S4 has seen 3 oils in <10k miles. The factory fill was Fuchs. Dealer first change was PP Euro and my latest change the other week was with M1. I've run M1 0w40 Euro in my B5 forever and have had 0 issues with it. Saw no reason to not continue running it in the B8.

Pros: no issues
Vehicle: Audi S4

FUCHS Engine oil

Dark oil is actually a good thing believe it or not. It means that the oil is doing it's job and holding all the contaminants in suspension. In fact if my oil would look clear at the oil change I'd be very concerned and most probably change the brand.

Pros: oil doing its job
Cons: dark oil

FUCHS Engine oil

I've posted my UOAs on TDIClub and BITOG. The factory fill was additive depleted at 5400 miles. The Fuchs 507.00 in the next fill was good for 7-7500 miles. It might have gone longer, but I changed it out in advance of a long trip. Bottom line is that preliminary evidence is that the 507 oils are inadequate for extended OCIs in the 3.0L motor.

Pros: good for 7-7500 miles
Cons: additive depleted at 5400
Mileage: 8694 km
