If you’re going to stock up on cabin filters for the future, get them at Honda dealership parts department. Those filters will fit better then most aftermarket filters

Pros: better fit than aftermarket

I'm a WIX filter fan myself (though virtually anything that fits properly will be effective). If it were up to me, I'd go with a WIX WP10320. Rock Auto (.com) has them for $15 (+ shipping). They aren't charcoal, but electrostatic which is a bit fancier.

Pros: effective, easy install
Part number: WP10320

OEM Honda Cabin filter

Tbh I was looking a lot into them. I just ended up going to the Honda delaership in person and buying their Honda OEM filter they had for $45~ CAD. Save myself all the labour and markup and the fit was super nice. Most filters have a bad fit so even though it says it’ll go for the car you have it’s not a snug fit

Pros: super nice fit, good quality
Cons: bad fit

OEM Honda Cabin filter

That's a cabin air filter from a Honda, probably a civic circa 2014-17. Having worked for Honda as a technician for several years, the pine needles are actually quite common since the filter sits horizontally above the blower motor, allowing things to fall on top of the filter and accumulate like this.

Pros: pine needles common
Vehicle: Honda Civic

At 23k miles I figured a cheap fix would be the cabin filter. Swapped in a Wix WP10159 charcoal filter and the smell is gone.

Pros: smell is gone
Cons: musty/old/damp smell
Mileage: 37015 km
Part number: WP10159

I use a charcoal Wix filter. It works really nice, even for filtering out smells a bit. And I drive a lot on dirt roads and it helps clean that up too.

Pros: filters out smells
