Cabin filter Mann or OEM Mazda

Mann Cabin filter

I went with the Mann filter to get Polyphenol for mold and bacteria protection along with the carbon.

Pros: Polyphenol, mold, bacteria protection

Mann Cabin filter

I really love the new filter I got. Its more expensive than OEM though. The thing about the new filter is it has both carbon and a polyphenol coating. I noticed that when my engine shuts down during start/stop that the air con doesnt have a wet dog smell anymore.

Pros: no wet dog smell, carbon and polyphenol coating
Cons: more expensive than OEM
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 17703 km

Mann Cabin filter

The second replacement filter was a Mann activated charcoal filter which does seem to help keep the interior smelling even fresher.

Mann Cabin filter

What finally seemed to help was replacing the cabin air filter (did myself in 3/2017) with one of the MANN charcoal filters (FP26 009 "Frecious Plus"). Perhaps this was just coincidental, but we have not experienced the problem since changing the filter.

Pros: solved fuel odor, effective filtration
Part number: FP 26-009

Mann Cabin filter

You can get the engine and cabin filters on Amazon and save yourself $150+ dollars. Look up Mann filters (which is the same thing VW uses) for you year.

Pros: save money, easy access

Mann Cabin filter

I thought the real issue was the fact that the Atlas cabin filter is just paper, whereas they used to use carbon filter in other, older models. Thus, all outside smells can easily be entered into the cabin.

Pros: outside smells easily entered
Cons: filter is just paper
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: FP 26-009
