Just did the front pads and rotors on my wife’s 2020. Went with Zimmerman rotors and TRW pads and it brakes like a dream, was recommended them from a friend's euro and exotic shop.

Pros: brakes like a dream

I’ll be switching to TRW Ultra pads when the time comes. All reviews say they are similar in performance to OEM without the dust.

Pros: similar to OEM, low dust

I use TRW brake pads (just checked, articles are GDB3592 for front, GDB2172 for back). They make quite a lot of brake dust during spirited driving, but that’s not a big deal for me (IMO more brake dust = less wear on brake discs).

Pros: less disc wear
Cons: lots of brake dust
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Part number: GDB3592, GDB2172

OEM Volkswagen Brake pads

The CPO contract goes into effect once I replace the worn brakes (pads and rotors) which can happen anytime- Service Rep said I can do it anytime but preferably soon (end of summer)- the brakes are fine to drive on now though

Pros: brakes can be replaced anytime
Cons: worn brakes need replacement

OEM Volkswagen Brake pads

I'm kind of disappointed with the factory VW pads that came with my 2019. My 2013 ran for 120K before the brakes needed replacement. Also, these pads leave a lot of brake dust on the side of the car.

Pros: long wear life
Cons: a lot of brake dust
Mileage: 42000 km

OEM Volkswagen Brake pads

VW of macon charged me over 600 for just the front pads and rotors - that's with a friend's and family deal because my dad used to work there. Apparently the OEM parts are super steep.

Cons: OEM parts are steep
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Just got back from the dealer who did an inspection and acknowledged the problem and that it was widespread. However, \"all they can do it tell you whether they're safe or not\". Of course, they're safe but they are also embarassing and, to my wife, anxiety producing thinking that the brakes are about to fail. It's an indictment on the factory that they would allow so many reported issues to go unaddressed, and that they would use ****ty brake pads.

Pros: acknowledged problem, safe
Cons: embarassing, anxiety producing, factory issues, bad brake pads

OEM Volkswagen Brake pads

Got mine in November of 2021 and have had the same squealing and grinding issue. Sometimes it's a high-pitched whistle. Going to look at the ceramic brake pads that someone suggested, but its a shame that VW does not address.

Pros: ceramic brake pads suggested
Cons: squealing, grinding, high-pitched whistle
