Brake pads POWER STOP or Hawk Performance

POWER STOP Brake pads

My mk5 rabbit is on its 4th set of Powerstop pads in the rear since I swapped all four corners to their pads and rotors. The fronts will probably be changed this coming summer. They still have plenty of meat on them.

Pros: plenty of meat

Hawk Performance Brake pads

For very little money I also upgraded the brakes to StopTech slotted rotors, braided SS brake lines, and Hawk HP pads. Never had brake fade even at tracks like Road America with heavy high speed braking.

Pros: no brake fade

Hawk Performance Brake pads

I'm running standard DBA 4000 blank rotors with Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. My only complaint is they seem to make a lot of brake dust so I'll probably try other pads when these wear through.

Cons: make a lot of brake dust
Vehicle: Subaru
Part number: 4000

Power Stop Z26 pads and rotors. They dust much less than stock, have lower initial bite, which helps with heel/toe downshifts, but similar overall bite to stick pads. I wouldn't try a heavy track day on them, but they're great as a set for aggressive daily driving. I ran the Z23 pads on OEM discs for nine years and approximately 50k miles and they were fantastic. I just upgraded to the Z26 pads and swapped discs about 500 miles ago. Zero complaints.

Pros: less dust, similar bite
Cons: lower initial bite
Mileage: 50000 km

Just put Zimmerman rotors and the Hawk Street pads on my non- PP gti. These pads unfortunately shift up and down and make a loud “clank” when braking on transition from 1st to reverse. They still bite great

Pros: bite great
Cons: loud clank, pads shift
Vehicle: Volkswagen
