personally i run dixcel z-type pads and a stock rotor with DOT4 fluid and its one of the best upgrade options IMO
These are the best double duty brake pad I have tested so far. I have tried stoptech 309 and EBC blue ndx which will start to fade around 4-5 laps at my local track. The dixcel pads I can not get them to fade at all. Pad life seems okay with mix use but street manners are abit worst than the stoptech and EBC (sometimes squeals and dust alot).
Almost never, this is a picture of my front driver brake pads after 80,000mi. They are above 90% 2017 Bolt.
For brakes, you're limited to whatever you can fit with your wheels.. I doubt you'd fit Brembo's with them, so you may be limited to 4pot/2pot or just rebuilding your current calipers with good street pads and rotors.
On my WRX, I use Dixcel ES pads front and rear
Upgraded rotors (paragon 2 piece) and dixcel type z pads.
Changed my front pads on 2021 Silverado and had same issue. Dash lit up with warnings and checking engine light. Disconnected battery for 30 plus minutes, pressed brake pedal 2/3rd way down and held for 45 seconds and released slowly, waited 15 seconds and repeated. Did this process for the entire 30 minutes. Reconnected negative terminal on battery and that cleared all warnings except check engine light. Drove for short distance and engine light went off. Just can’t reset my brake pad wear setting, so thinking new sensor may be bad so I ordered a OEM replacement.
I had to replace my Bolt's pads because of using the friction brakes so little due to one-pedal driving, they rusted out. It's actually important to make a point of using your friction brakes every now and then.
My 2025 RS AWD has been having squealing brakes since 1,000 miles at low speed. It has 3,500 on it now and it's annoying.
My breaks were squeaking with less than 5000 miles. Bad and embarrassing squeaking.
I have about 1k miles on my 25 Equinox EV and the brakes have started doing this. It’s horrendous backing out of my driveway and at drive thru’s. Sounds like I’m driving an old beat up car that I haven’t maintained.
