Brake discs Zimmermann or R1 Concepts
I changed my front rotors to Zimmermann, and brake pads to trw ultra. It made a big difference.
Zimmerman coated rotors + OEM pads
Notably less rust on rotor edges and maintains the great initial bite of the OEM.
I’ve been buying rotors for over 15 years from R1 Concepts and highly recommend them. Good quality and good price.
I went with Zimmerman rotors and akebono ceramic pads. I think I’ll do metallic pads next time. The low brake dust is nice though
I got the the black R1 Concepts slotted and drilled ones for mine, thinking the same thing about the cosmetics. But the black wore off after a few stops. Still good breaks tho.
I just received my Zimmerman /Textar rotor pad combo today and installing on Thursday. I drive my car pretty hard but don’t track it anymore. Zimmerman should 1-1 stock as far as I understand
I went with the stock front 335i Grey 4 piston Brembo's (340mm rotors) and 2 piston Brembo's (345mm rotors) in the rear. I also went with stainless steel brake lines. I used the Zimmerman 2 piece rotors, I can't remember the pads, but I remember they weren't cheap. It stops really well for a daily driver.
My car is a daily driver so I used zimmerman blank 1 piece rotors and jurid pads.
Zimmermann discs are great, pads are up to your driving style. Just a note, if you choose any of the EBC pads on FCP go with the yellowstuff. I've had redstuff and they did not hold up well on spirited runs.
Doesn't out perform the German stuff. Zimmerman rotors and Ferrodo, hawk, or EBC pads.
