Brake discs Textar or GiroDisc

GiroDisc Brake discs

Definitely approaching end of life. I wouldn’t have a safety concern just yet but you’re getting close. Go with Girodisc for your next set. They’re more expensive but they are amazing.

Pros: amazing
Cons: more expensive

Textar Brake discs

I did mine recently. Purchased new guild pins and boots from rock auto and replaced them while I was at it. For rotors I like Zimmerman, pagid, brembo or textar. And pad I like semi metallic, preferably pagid or textar. For this particular brake job I went with textar rotors and a combination or trw and textar pads. Took me roughly 2-2.5 hours and cost me about 680 CAD. I flushed about a L of pentosin dot 4 through too.

Pros: easy to install, cost effective

We are on our fifth weekend with our girodisc two piece rotors. Yes they are expensive, but they are worth it. They are so much better with heat management.

Pros: better heat management
Cons: expensive

Follow up after my track day: The Girodiscs + Pagids were amazing. Tons of bite, and zero fade, plus plenty of pedal feel after two days of running hard at VIR.

Pros: tons of bite, zero fade

I have had great success with Girodisc rotors this summer. I have been using Ferodo DS2500 pads for a few years and love them, but rotor temperatures would hit 800+ degrees after track sessions and conventional rotors, like Stop Tech, developed surface cracking and maybe a bit of warp. Girodisc rotor temps have been around 550 degrees after sessions this summer.

Pros: lower rotor temperatures, great success
Cons: surface cracking, bit of warp

Update for all those following along. My brakes were the best they've ever been today - on a very, very hot day (feels-like temp over 100). I had a vibration with light brake pressure, but pressed on giving more pressure and found that as the brakes got more heat in them, and I went deeper into the braking zone, the vibration disappeared. All was well, but after checking the rotors, they appear to have developed cracks.

Pros: best brakes ever
Cons: developed cracks, vibration
