Brake discs Raybestos or GALFER

GALFER Brake discs

I run a Galfer floating front disc with sintered Galfer pads on my 401. It doesn't seem to stop any faster but feedback is better and the bike feels a lot more stable under hard braking. Would recommend.

Pros: feedback is better, more stable
Cons: no faster stopping

Raybestos Brake discs

Not at all worth it. Go on Rockauto and get ones from a reputable brand like Raybestos or Centric. They’re just as good if not better than OEM for like 1/4 the price.

Pros: good quality, low price

My local shop recommended trying Galfer rotors which is what they run with Maguras and it’s made a difference on my front brake which is the only one I have had rub issues with. Galfer rotor with new pads took about a week to break in with no rub.

Pros: no rub after break in
Cons: rubbing issues

Do not go cheap. I even tried the top-of-the-line products house brand from AutoZone and advance auto parts. The front rotors warp in three to 6 months even their premium products. I struggled with this for years trying to figure out what it was. I switched to Raybestos element 3 problem solved. Do not go cheap on the front.

Pros: problem solved, reliable
Cons: rotors warp quickly

GALFER Brake discs

I got a set of the galfer wave rotors and they absolutely screamed no matter what I did. I cleaned everything and rebedded the pads half a dozen times and even switched to organic pads thinking I was doing something wrong. Finally just tried different rotors and my brakes were dead silent

Pros: dead silent brakes
Cons: screaming brakes
