I just bought a set of all 4 cross drilled slotted rotors with the black anti rust coating all around with a set of ceramic brake pads front and back and hardware. Brand name R1 concepts.
I got R1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads and they've been awesome.
I just put a set of R1 Concepts drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads. Huge improvement over OEM.
Great quality at a decent price. I've been using them for almost 15 years on everythinng from a minivan to 2 BMWs.
R1 concepts drilled and slotted. Been running them for about two years and theyre solid.
R1 Concepts are the only brakes I use on my cars. Last far longer then OEM.
I've also got a Type R and Rock Auto does sell one-piece blanks for our cars. They're made by Dynamic Friction. I had a pair of two-piece Paragon front rotors that I bought used but sold them to keep consumables cost down. They did well on track. Haven't tracked the blanks yet, but am registered for an event in August.
Have been putting r1concept rotors on my vehicles for 10 years. Corolla, lexus is 250, ford f150, saab 9-3, volvo xc 90. Have always gotten drilled/slotted braking performance seems to be twice as good. The last few cars I know I got my geomet rotors and ceramic pads. But 8 years ago got rotors on my lexus. Felt great never really had a problem. I was showing off in the back roads of wv, super hill, county roads. Maybe a 20 minute drive and I did have the car filled with people. Hit 95 mph a couple times. Everything was fine got back parked, my back rotors were smoking for atleast 10 minutes very visible. Still never had any issues after that. That is apparently super common. Not cause for too much concern. Never had it with any other vehicle any other time. I speed excisively. Just saying if you intend to use them for a track car I'd wanna be aware of that. Who knows if the geomet rotors would've improved things.
I have a drilled and slotted set with performance pads from R1 Concepts (was going ti replace pads but 1 rotor was bad). I have had them for about 4 months now and only complaint us the squeeky pads. I have a larger vehicle (Forester) so i feel the fade a bit sooner than most, but i feel these rotors do a good job of preventing that. I dont ride the brakea that hard but its still noticable.
The EBC Yellowstuff pads didn't last as long as the OE pads. The Alfa EBC rotors still are shipping with Gen1 "ThermicBlack" coating on them, which isn't as good as the Geomet/Geospec coating that EBC claims to now be using on new production parts. The EBC Gen1 coating rusts and looks like a pretty nasty rotor in just two years. I went with the EBC rotors in 2021 because I didn't want Chinese parts either, and the EBC items are made in the UK (and pads may be made in the USA).So when I did the rear brakes again this year (rear EBC YS pads shot in 23k miles), I went back to the OE Alfa rear pads. I ordered the EBC rotors, but when they showed up with the Gen1 coating that sucks, I returned them. And I ended up having to buy Dynamic Friction Geospec/Geomet coated rotors, which are made in China. The Dynamic Friction rotors were well packaged (much better than the EBCs). So far, they're completely fine after maybe 100 miles.
