Bosch.

Pros: keine Rostbildung
Cons: Rostbildung

Wagner Pads, Bosch QC Rotors. Duralast pads are made by Durago, available on RockAuto. They’re nothing special but they work fine. I like Wagner brakes, other good options include Bosch, Centric and Reybestos. For materials; Ceramic will be quieter and less dusty. Semi-metallic usually have higher fade point but are noisier and let off a fair it more dust which coats your wheels. I’ve been having good luck with the Bosch Quietcast rotors. Advice High Carbon are probably actually be the best option but are one of the more expensive options. Raybestos coated also seem to hold up decently and are a little cheaper. Just avoid anything drilled or slotted it just acts as a cheese grater and acts as less surface area for the pads to grab.

Pros: good rotors, decent Raybestos
Cons: expensive, drilled/slotted

When it comes to rotors and pads, Bosch Quiet Cast are much better than anything else I've tried in 25 years of XJ ownership.

I think it comes down to the composition of rotor itself, the resilience of the coating and probably manufacturing process, they seem to last and perform a lot better than even the other premium coated rotors I've tried over the years. Similar to OEM German car rotors, they still look like new even after multiple Canadian winters.

Pros: much better, long lasting

I think I did some deep dive research and settled on Bosch quiet cast with Akebono pads. I think I’ve also used eccentric in the past. No complaints with any of the above.

Pros: no complaints

Just swapped my fronts again at ~43K. Used VW rotors this time, pads are just fine/have tons of life left. It really comes down to pad deposits from my wife's driving this only around town/short trips and being an early braker.

Pros: pads have tons of life
Cons: pad deposits

Am I right to be upset that I was told the rotors are warped because I went through a puddle with hot brakes? Costing me $1300 to fix!

Cons: rotors warped

I've posted on here before, but my front rotors were grooved from the day of purchase (only a few lines), and has progressively gotten worse. Of course, last tech inspection, the tech said I had warped rotors, and needed a new set.

Cons: front rotors were grooved

Mileage: 32187 km
