I use oem bc I get discounted price else I’d use optima, bc I personally on my cars with optimas have never had a problem and oldest is coming up on 9 years
I went to the store and traded the core of my perfectly "good" DieHard Gold (~18 mos old) and spent $400 on an Optima Yellow Top. The difference was immediate. Interior lights were brighter, mirrors functioned normally, no 'system off' garbage, truck opened and closed without hesitation. It starts strong and fast. With the temperature dropping, the peace of mind has been 100% worth the price. I even put the portable jump starter back in the garage. It worked.
I bought a red top optimum for my 2019 forester sport. Have had it in for almost 2 years without issue thus far.
My replacement was a Blue Top 34M and it's 8 years old. No issues with Optima here.
I've had great luck with the Optima Yellow Top DS46B24R for Gen2.
I replaced it with an Optima Yellow top battery. It lasted just shy of 3 years. Replaced it in July with another Yellow Top under warranty.
The battery is an Optima Yellowtop 5.5 75h, I changed it in 2018. It has central poles and the negative pole near the windshield. Now given the very high prices of the Optimas and since their lifespan disappointed me, I wanted to get a cheaper battery.
Optimas don’t seem to hold up any better than the AGM from the parts store.
Optoma are shit nowadays anyway.
Optima batteries suck as of the parent company’s sale about 10 years ago. Dead battery rate tripled in our fleet of cop cars (used for driving instruction).
