Battery OEM Toyota or OPTIMA

OPTIMA Battery

Currently running a yellow Optima, 3 years and going strong. I don't recall what the OE battery was but it crapped out after 2 years in mild California weather.

Pros: going strong, three years

OEM Toyota Battery

Not a Lexus but 2023 Camry and had my battery die twice and both times had Toyota test it and charge it.

It was from lack of use, and short drives. The battery was also on the low amp of cca ratings. I replaced it with a much stronger CCA rating battery and haven't had any issues,

Pros: no more issues
Cons: battery died twice
Vehicle: Toyota Camry

OPTIMA Battery

I have a 10 year old yellow top Optima (not even the nicest thing out there) that starts a 440 (often 9 months between starts) every time. I haven't even put a tender on it in the last 5 years.

Pros: starts every time

OPTIMA Battery

Optima seems to be the only brand of cylindrical Pb batteries for automotive use... pretty much every other automotive Pb battery is prismatic.

That's the first I've seen one fail this way.

Cons: fail this way

Those Optima Red, Yellow and Blue tops used to be the cat's ass 20 years ago, but quality has fallen off big time in recent years

Cons: quality has fallen off
