I’ve had two duralast batteries in my 02 24v and they’re so old I honestly can’t remember when I put them in. But I’d say they’re about 6-7 years old, probably more. When those batteries finally give up I’ll definitely be getting new duralast batteries.

Pros: exceptional longevity, reliable

The battery you want is an AUX18L 20ah battery. I used [This battery](https://www.autozone.com/miscellaneous-non-automotive/power-sport-battery/duralast-gold-etx18l-group-btx24hl-agm-ready-to-ride-power-sport-battery-340-cca/350084_0_0?spps.s=4782) myself a month or so ago, it is an ETX18L and it has been working fine.

Pros: working fine

I just replaced my OEM H5/LN2 group 47-sized battery with a Duralast Platinum H5-AGM Group Size H5/LN2 680CCA battery. After having my mechanic change the settings in the ECU from EFB to Fleece for battery technology, 60Ah for rated capacity and set the date of install for the last 8 digits of the serial number, all seems to be fine. It fits the OEM position and cover perfectly.

Pros: fits OEM position perfectly

Yes and you can go the route I suggested earlier, with a Group 47 AGM , Deka brand. I paid $135 for mine 4 years ago at Battery Mart. Fit is good, just add a wedge under the battery hold clamp. Cannot leak acid due to the design. I run diesel farm tractors, too. AGM's are the only batteries I can get a decent life from due to the vibration. The extra capacity over the standard lead acid batteries is great for the cold morning diesel start. My point is that they are quite durable. An AGM for a Rabbit is not overkill when you consider the quality problems in regular lead-acid batteries these days.

Pros: durable, cannot leak acid
Cons: add a wedge
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: 47

I've gone through two VW batteries in 32K miles under three years. They suck. Just replaced it with a Duralast Gold from Autozone which has a 3 year full replacement warranty and 5 year prorated.

Pros: full replacement warranty
Cons: batteries suck
Mileage: 51500 km
