I've had zero issues using green prestone for the past 100k on my 16v. Just change it every 2-3 years. Car never has any white build-up or any build-up in the hoses, so there's no real reason to not use it. Ph level stays neutral. Engine even has the original water pump at 180k
I bought a 3/8ths 8 inch long copper tube, 4 screw tightening tube clamps and Prestone Antifreeze...I jammed 3 inches of that beast of a tube in one end and 3 inches into the other and put two clamps on each side to hold that baby in. There were flares on each end so I know the thing can't slip out at either end. It was a perfect fit. I then dumped that Prestone Antifreeze into the car and went for a test drive. NO LEAKS!
I've used G12 and Prestone in one of my Corrados. No noticeable difference in performance or running temps. I did 100% complete system flush when changing over. I like the Prestone for availability.
You can regualr coolant as long as COMPLETELY flush out the system. I ran Prestone in my Jetta with regular flushes for 3 years with no problems...an no pitting of my cyl. head
i run prestone in my 1.8T and have ran it for 6 months now ever since i put a new radiator in bc my old one cracked so my g12 was completely flushed out. no problems for me.
Installed a new Coolant Temperature Sensor Flushed cooling system Changed thermostat from 87C to 80C Installed new Radiator Fan switch 85-95C Installed new heater control valve as old valve was seeping coolant Replace all hoses
I think you should be fine. If it was the Prestone that you can add to all makes and models, that coolant is compatible with a wide variety of coolants. I have mixed that stuff with Dexcool and green stuff with no issues.
I've been using prestone in my 2.0 for 5 years with no problem. The heater will make you sweat and the cooling system works flawlessly.
I'm flushing our 14 Tiguan this weekend cause the coolant is nasty as hell.
Prestone destroyed my passats Cooling system, everything just deteriorated, the hoses in my car started to break up. I don't recommend prestone
