Drain/refill every two years for me, Pentosin coolant only!
I personally use Pentosin SF for GM cars,it's not the cheapest, but it is one of the best. Made in Germany. Similar to Dex-cool but pink,no problems.
CRP the USA distributor for Pentosin; discusses, service intervals with the various long life VW coolants (g12, 13, etc): in their line Pentofrost SF, E, etc @ 14:00: Pentosin - Antifreeze Looks like Pentofrost E; the latest G13 equivalent is recommended for your car with crp's application guide; mixed @ 50/50 with deionized water
I personally just use pentosin. They're only about $13 for 1.5 liters ( here ) and makes 3 liters. I keep a few bottles and some distilled water in my garage just in case.
Gear Hell no! Don't use that generic auto parts store crap. Pentosin, VW/AUDI only. Unless you don't like your car!
You will probably be fine running the Peak stuff if you have to, but I seem to recall a few years ago I was able to purchase Pentosin/Pentofrost from Advance Auto Parts. That was a brand that I saw often on VW parts sites and it meets the standards for using it in the MKIV VW cooling systems, so I went with that.
Yes most certainly I always use Pentofrost/Pentosin VW-Specific Concentrated Coolants. Always have for every VW I have ever owned.
Last time I priced FL 22 at the Mazda dealer it was about the same as AutoZone I was surprised I thought it would be considerably more.
Yes, that will work. I did Pentofrost G13 equivalent for my top-up coolant.
I used 3 of those Pentosin blue with a bottle of Water Wetter and the rest is water.. my temp is 30 degree higher than it was before and I don't know what the heck it was in there before which is this yellow/green milky stuff, it sure kept the engine mostly below 180. But now I hit 220-230 easily
