Alternator OEM Volvo or Duralast

OEM Volvo Alternator

The 2.4 in my 2006 S40 was stone cold reliable to 157k miles before I sold it. Needed a new alternator at about 145k but that was it. It\u2019s been 2 years and I still miss driving that car. The BEST front seats of any vehicle I\u2019ve driven or ridden in.

Pros: stone cold reliable
Cons: new alternator needed
Vehicle: Volvo S40
Mileage: 157000 km

Duralast Alternator

The only good thing about buying a duralast is it'll be the last alternator that you have to *PAY* for. But it def will *NOT* be the last alternator you install in the truck. Lol

Pros: last alternator you pay
Cons: frequent alternator install

OEM Volvo Alternator

This was a new genuine Volvo alternator I had Volvo put in, not a cheap or rebuilt part. Also, the battery is only about a year old. Could this really be a failing alternator or could something else be going on?

Pros: new genuine part
Cons: failing to charge
Vehicle: Volvo XC60

Duralast Alternator

All I could recommend is stop buying the autozone/duralast alternators. Buy a good brand, ie Denso, Delco, Motorcraft, etc. and return the duralast one outright for cash in hand.

Pros: return for cash
Cons: prone to premature failure
