2000 2.4 here. Yup, runs better. I also just hate yanking out a filter and throwing it away every few thousand miles. Never had a map problem. I clean mine every other oil change. Probably excessive, never really dirty.

Pros: runs better, easy cleaning

I use one and I have no problems with mine. I have a 2015 Trd or. Just follow the instructions carefully on proper maintenance and I too feel the difference every time I clean it. I never had a maf issue

Pros: no problems, easy maintenance

I replaced my factory air filter with the K&N one and noticed a much smoother idle and even slightly better throttle response.

Pros: smoother idle, better response

Brought a throttle body spacer, knock off K&N filter, and 08 air intake tube. Big improvement on acceleration and gas mileage. Was getting 12mpg in heavy city stop/go…now I’m averaging between 15-16 in the city. But you do go thru gas much faster stepping on it.

Pros: improved acceleration, better mileage
Cons: faster gas consumption

I got a K&N filter and I like it, though it ended up being a tad on the large side. I don't think it matters much compared to any other cone filter, but that's just me

Pros: I like it
Cons: a tad large

Ran a K&N for years in my Focus SVT, put on a supercharger and blew it up…with 110,000 K&N filter miles the cylinders still had cross hatching. I suspect that means the filter did its job

Pros: filter did its job
Vehicle: Ford Focus
Mileage: 110000 km

Due to restrictions in SCCA Stock class rules, I only run a K&N panel... though dyno time revealed only marginal hp gains (really, its a poor ROI over the stock paper, but the K&N was part of a diagnostics test my team was doing, so it was free).

Pros: marginal hp gains
Cons: poor ROI

All the tests I've seen suggest the K&N's allow more dirt through than a paper filter. You also have to clean and re-oil them periodically. If you use too much oil you might be looking at a new MAF sensor which can't take oil contamination.

There's no performance difference over a paper filter.

Cons: allows more dirt, needs cleaning

I had one in mine for a little while before reading around and watching videos on these. I noticed my engine made a louder ticking noise with it and I saw absolutely no gain let alone one that would offset the cost.

Cons: louder ticking noise, no gain
