PENNZOIL Engine oil

Best bang for your buck is the ultra premium penzoil 0w 20. Meets the api certification and in terms of performance it essentially provides the same level of performance as the amsoil.

Pros: meets api certification

MOTUL Engine oil

In Florida, I use Motul 300v 5w30 for track days and tuning. Otherwise I run motul 8100 (5w30) if I know i'm not going to drive the car hard for awhile. I change the oil pretty regularly because it's a simple insurance. Always send the oil into blackstone to test.

Pros: insurance, regular changes

AMSOIL Engine oil

I’ve been running Amsoil signature 0w-20 in my FL5 for about 5k miles now. No track driving, just a mixture of city/highway. Some spirited pulls and rowing through the gears but mostly normal driving. Car is stock aside from PRL intake and custom tune. Had Blackstone do an oil analysis after the first 3k miles and all was well and below the average for all wear metals. I’m in Florida so pretty hot climate overall. Very happy with the oil and will continue to use it at that viscosity

Pros: happy with the oil
Mileage: 5000 km

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

I found the Honda certification number recently but cannot recall where (I’m trying though and will update if I do).
I wonder if the green VW508 is LiquiMoly? Their oil(s) are green. And, LiquiMoly New Gen is what I settled on for my FL5.

Pros: settled on LiquiMoly

VALVOLINE Engine oil

Y'all might call me a heretic for running Valvoline restore and protect 5w30 in my 4.0T.

Any oil that meets API SP and is the right viscosity grade more than likely is at least as good as the oils specified by the OEMs.

Pros: at least as good
Vehicle: Audi

OEM Toyota Engine oil

Brought it in for 5k ToyotaCare at the dealership I bought it from. Used wrong engine oil (at least they listed wrong on the service sheet but promised they did use 0w20) - GRC is only model where 5k or 6 month oil changes are standard. 2500 miles if driven hard. Fucked up the trans oil I asked them to change - used wrong oil type. Fucked up tcase and rear diff oils. Found oil spilled on some pieces of the subframe. Of the 2 test drives they did doing the warranty covered alignment they had 10+ drive pulse hard acceleration /braking/cornering alerts on both 4 mile drives. I changed the engine oil, trans, tacsee, rear diff, cleaned oil they spilt after picking it back up. They said they'd corrected their errors only after I got Toyota corporate involved. I didn't trust them to do anything so corrected all myself.

Pros: null
Cons: wrong oil, spilled oil, bad alignment
Mileage: 5000 km
