I've always bought Michelin tires. My last set were Michelin Defenders. The belts in one tire began to separate and as a result the ride became a little wobbly so I had to replace them. Also, they were all getting worn quite a bit. I decided to give General AltiMAX RT45 tires a try. A friend had them years ago and was happy with them. I've had them a month now and the ride quality, noise level and handling all all just as good as the Michelins. Time will tell if they remain this way.
I switched to Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 on our 17 Touareg, night and day from stock. They’re expensive, but worth it.
I've had Pirelli Scorpion plus all season 15 years ago on my old Nissan Sentra and it did a great job for 50k miles. Right now, i have Pirelli Scorpion AT plus and it does a great job so far in all weather with my Lexus GX460. I have good experience so far with Pirelli compared to other brands.
I have had excellent results with General Altimax tires, absolutely excellent. I’ve used them on five different vehicles (pickup, two SUVs, and two sedans - one RWD, one FWD) since 2014. I currently have a set of RT45s on one of our current vehicles (SUV), and they’re just as good as can be.
If you only drive on snow a handful of days a year, I'd get the Pirellis, they'll be better than the other two most of time.
They are correct, get the Generals! I have a 2002 Mercedes S500 and they are wonderful all season tires. Hold tight around corners at highway speeds and they do well for a rear wheel drive in the rain. I've had the Michelins and Goodyears and the General Altimax are amazing tires and they are a great value for what they are.
But the GT ones are by far and away the very best I've had. They're very quiet, have a low rolling resistance, so great for EVs, and the handling in snow is incredible! It's almost like there is no snow even when riding on it.
In my experience, P-Zeros were great at first, but got slippery really fast, even when there was plenty of tread-depth left.
My 2021 factory pirelli tires lasted less than 15k miles and my tire guy said don’t order them again.
Wow, that can explain quite a lot why my Pirelli's are squeeking by sharp turns, even slow driven thru, are unsrable on wider turns and got bad grip.
