I had the BF Goodrich Comp 2s. Great tires on my 16. On my 21 CE I have Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, better tire than the Comp 2s (the comp 2s looked better however). The Michelins just have more traction and handle the torque better. I also feel they are better laterally.
You can get a great set of tires at Costco (Pilot sport all season on my S5). Good tires pay for themselves ( if properly inflated) in fuel efficiency savings!
I have a set of michelin alpin pa4 I'm trying to sell since I'm moving to FL soon. They ran perfect last winter.
The Cross Climate 2 is pretty much God tier in its class. Do it.
The cross climates, although probably a bit more expensive, will wipe the floor with either of those 2 tires from les schwab performance wise. Significantly better in rain and snow, and will probably last much longer as well.
For me its the performance on wet conditions (rains a lot here) and the longevity. I usually get about 5-6 years off a set of defenders on both my GLK 350 and my Suburban.
Just replaced the old ones on my mk7 with the same, I’ve always preferred Michelin Pilot Sport, old ones were 3’s new ones 4’s, bit different tread design but still a quiet highway cruise.
Winter setup is Michelin x-ice.
The MPG drop is real, my Camry lost about 2-3mpg but they’re silly grippy. Definitely noisy and absolutely not a soft riding tire.
I only got 33k miles on these on a 4cyl Camry to be 3/32 tread left, not great
