Tires MICHELIN or Falken

Falken Tires

I barely have to put my truck into 4wheel in snow now that I switched to Wildpeaks. The amount of grip compared to the stock tires is insane. Also pretty quiet and my mpg’s only dropped for city driving, same mpg’s for highway.

Pros: insane amount of grip, pretty quiet
Cons: mpg dropped city driving

I’ve run Blizzaks on my 2014 Forester before, but I’m currently on my second year with a set of Michelin X-Ice and they’ve been great so far. The sidewalls on the X-Ice don’t seem to flex as much as the Blizzak so the car feels better in corners, especially when running on dry pavement.

Pros: car feels better in corners
Cons: sidewalls flex as much

I love the Wildpeaks but mine have started to spin a bit from a stop after about 20k. Looks like I'll get 50-60k out of them though.

Pros: love the Wildpeaks
Cons: spin a bit
Mileage: 20000 km

I just switched to wildpeaks too and they are great in the snow and rain so far. The stock tires on the SR5 were a liability and would always slip whenever the weather took a turn.

Pros: great in snow and rain
Cons: stock tires were liability

Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Live in the Seattle area and they’re great in the rain, but I spend a lot of the winter at a second home in the North Cascades and they are killer for the ice and snow. Incredibly quiet, too!

Pros: great in rain, killer for ice
Cons: none

I had so much fun playing in the snow with the Falken Wildpeaks. It was like I couldn't get stuck.

X-Ice for me. A few reviews noted they did a bit better in slush, water, etc vs just deep snow so they make sense where I live.

Pros: better in slush, water
Cons: vs deep snow

I ran those Falkens for my first year in my Miata, running E-Stock. IIRC my pressures were closer to 30 PSI, +/- 1-2 PSI. I found that the Falkens got greasy once they started getting hot, so I switched to ZII's for the following season which had a much more predictable traction progression.

Pros: good traction progression
Cons: got greasy when hot
Vehicle: Mazda
