I'm using continental extreme summers or some name similar to that. Good grip, good price, doesn't last any longer than any performance tire on these tire shredding vehicles.

Pros: good grip, good price
Cons: doesn't last long

If your roads get plowed and you’ll only deal with 2” of snow at most, then the DWS06+ or Pilot AS4 are the way to go. The DWS handle wet a lot better than the AS4. The AS4 handles dry a little bit better than the DWS, and rides a bit better.

Pros: handle wet a lot better

I have had the best luck w/ Michelin Pilot Sports or Super sports. I have had several sets of the Continental Sport Contacts on different cars including the Golf R and they seem to wear out early with noise and balance problems sooner than I would expect. I have never had a set last more than 20K miles before the tread was gone and/or they start having noise/balance issues. They are GREAT tires up until that point, but they don't last anywhere near their published treadlife rating.

Pros: great tires initially
Cons: wear out early, noise problems
Mileage: 32186 km

KO2s are overrated, overpriced and loud as well as being old technology. I've ran them and never looked back after getting TOYOs, much quieter ride, cheaper price with no offroad capability sacrifice. They also perform better in wet environments, KO2s are horrible in wet weather especially snow.

Pros: quieter ride, cheaper price
Cons: overpriced, loud, old technology
