They had been recommended to me by a couple friends, but obviously you have to try it before you really know. This is *my* take on these tires **after only one ride**. I can corner better than I've ever been able to on a 29er. I feel more comfortable going through loose sand and dirt. Traction on most surfaces that I rode on (packed dirt, loose dirt, rocks, road, and gravel) was much higher. Due to the above, I was able to go faster through more areas of trail. Rolling over small objects was smoother. Rolling resistance is much higher than I had thought, but it doesn't stop you dead. To me, this simply means I have to work a little harder, which I have no problem doing.

Pros: better cornering, higher traction
Cons: high rolling resistance

Continental Tires

The Conti DW's are excellent, but I do find they tread squirm pretty badly until they wear a bit. I just did my first rotation after about 4500 miles and with the higher tread back on the front, I noticed it instantly. Other than that though, really good so far.

Pros: excellent grip, really good
Cons: tread squirm until worn
Mileage: 4500 km

These tires are nothing short of amazing, i've never felt my previous gti or my new one perform the way it does on these tires. I can't recommend them enough, they're really *that* good.

Pros: amazing performance, highly recommended

The ride is very soft/smooth and quiet. Far superior in handling (obviously) and noise than the factory Michelin's were.

Pros: soft, smooth, quiet ride
Mileage: 2200 km

Toyo Tires

If you want the best of both worlds, get Toyo T1R's. They are an all around amazing tire. They stretch great and perform well in wet and dry conditions. My car has never felt more \"sure footed\" than when i had 195-45 T1R's on my 15x8's.

Pros: amazing tire, stretch great
Cons: VERY expensive
Vehicle: BMW

YOKOHAMA Tires

I've had 512s, 912s, and currently S. Drives. I couldn't tell you which ones stretch better but performance wise, the Falkens don't come close to the Yoks. My car is a summer daily and the S. Drives are great in dry and wet conditions. Good luck.

Pros: great in dry and wet
Cons: Falkens don't come close

YOKOHAMA Tires

S-Drives are by far the stickier tire. Much much stickier than the bull**** Falken. I still would not have a problem running a Falken for the pure look of it. Never would I get it for any performance oriented reason.

Pros: stickier tire
Cons: Falken not performance oriented
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Nexen Tires

Good for the money.. they are indeed 'budget tires'.. Perform decently on dry.. but wet traction is not all that good and I thought they wore fast.. like 30k miles.. rotated them every 5k..

Pros: decent dry performance
Cons: poor wet traction
Mileage: 48280 km

Falken Tires

I ran a set of the Falkens on my last Jetta. I drive aggressively and I ate them up faster than they spun. I believe they were the ZE 912s. The hydroplaning resistance wasn't as great for me and I could break them out of traction without too much effort.

Cons: ate them up faster
