Tires MICHELIN or OEM Toyota

MICHELIN Tires

I purchased 3 year old Michelin Artic Alpine tires for my 2016 Nissan Rogue for $400 on Nissan rims with tire pressure sensors. Retail prob $1500.00. Winter tires are smart and nessasary for safe driving in Manitoba.

Pros: smart, necessary for safety
Vehicle: Nissan

I had an AWD Charger as a company vehicle for a couple of years and it had been equipped with a newly released All-Weather tire that Michelin had come up with (utilizes sunflowers in the make up). They were really impressive all the way down to -5*F.

Pros: impressive in cold weather

I usually just buy the relevant Michelin, and it costs more, but they feel good for a long time.

Pros: good feel, long lasting
Cons: more expensive

Go with Michelin CrossClimate2. They are excellent winter and excellent summers. I didn't think it was possible, but they are great tires. In the winter they are as good as any great winter only tire. I have them on my Santa Fe.

Pros: excellent winter performance, excellent summer performance, great tires

MICHELIN Tires

A 3PMS All-Weather tire like the Michelin CrossClimate 2 is doable. Tires like the Michelin CrossClimate 2s reach the ISO standard to be deemed a winter tire by every regulatory body in North America. They preform as well as a lot of winter tires.

Pros: winter rated, performs well

I’ve been running Michelin Defender 2 on my Toyota Camry year round since 2020 and it does very well every single winter with no issues at all. Fully sipped tires do help for grip on snow and ice.

Pros: very well in winter, good grip

I ran the non EV equivalent Michelin Sport on my Tesla for almost 5 years to the tune of $30 less per tire. The only difference I found compared to EV tires was a strip of foam for sound deadening.

Pros: long lifespan, cost-effective

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All Seasons on my 22s. They work ok, also a bit noisier. Not 100% in the snow, but get the job done.

Pros: acceptable performance
Cons: a bit noisy, not great in snow
Vehicle: BMW

I bought a set of Michelins for my F250 several years ago because they were the “best”. The truck had a vibration after the new tires were installed but since they were Michelins I didn’t even think it was a tire issue. All four tires were out of round. ALL FOUR.

Cons: tires were out of round
