Tires MICHELIN or Nokia

MICHELIN Tires

Little late to this thread. But my wife had Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires on her Ford Explorer when she bought it new. They are a high mileage compound tire. And she got every bit of 75,000 miles out of them over 5 years. No major or noticeable loss of grip, did fairly well in the rain, even at the end.

Pros: high mileage, good grip
Mileage: 75000 km

CrossClimates are a much better tire in my experience and opinion. They are stiffer and less soft, much more sporty feel but with balance. I felt like I had less control with a boaty steering feel on the Weatherpeaks.

Pros: sporty feel, better control
Cons: boaty steering feel

Night and day with Michelin Snow X tires though. Now, I prefer it over our 4x4 truck for many snow situations (except in fresh snow fall cases where bumper clearance is an issue).

Pros: prefer it over truck
Cons: bumper clearance issue

Nokia Tires

I like the Nokian WR G4 for my 16" wheels as it's a proper *all weather* and electric friendly (like most Nokians.) Not sure if they make them in a 205/45r17, but they are good for wet/cold/winter and just ok in the dry/warm.

Pros: good for wet/cold/winter
Cons: ok in the dry/warm
Vehicle: MINI

I would personally recommend that you get a tire like the Nokian Hakkapelita R3 or R5. They are by far the best winter tires I have used.

Pros: best winter tires

MICHELIN Tires

Normal tires were all-season Michelins. It was like night and day on the Blizzaks. My car was on rails when I wasn't driving like a turd. I plowed a couple food-deep right turn lanes that hadn't been touched in an 08 A4 (quattro, ofc) with no problem.

Pros: like night and day
Vehicle: Audi A4

Cross climate twos put them on My 2020 back in October. They've been really good so far. Haven't really tried them in heavy snow yet. But dry weather there very quiet and ride. Very good in wet weather they handle very good so far. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Pros: quiet, good in wet
Cons: expensive

Personally, I would not get the CrossClimates if you are in Florida. They are like a hybrid winter tire with the snowflake and would probably be great in the rain but might wear quickly down there. I put a set (the car version) on our Corolla before we sent it to our kid up north and they were okay but felt a little "clompy" and loud over bumps.

Pros: great in the rain
Cons: clompy and loud

Our '11 Yaris came with these in a T-rated 185/60-15 with 160 treadwear. They had some tread left but were super unsafe by 20k miles (no traction on wet roads and uncontrollable axle hopping wheelspin with light acceleration). Total throwaway trash tires: super loud, no grip, harsh riding.

Cons: super loud, no grip
Mileage: 32186 km
