Just had the Cross Climate 2s installed and I am loving them. Smoother, quieter ride. Everything I've watched and read about them having great wet/dry, and amazing snow traction is totally accurate.
Federal command 2.4s have been my favorite so far. Smooth center tread for good rolling and speed retention, but still have some tread on the side for banking and grind protection. Rubber compound they use is also getting softer with time/riding so they feel better the more worn in they get.
I have the CC2’s on my Polestar 2 DM on Vancouver Island. They have been great this past week in the snow and ice and were fine earlier in the year.
That why i changed my tires from eco contact 6 to the Michelin crossclimate 2 one of the best all weather tires on the market and good enough for my 75hp corsa but the eco contact 6 suck ass because they are made to have a low rolling resistance
I made the same mistake with an NB I put midrange all weather tires on and I aqua planed as soon as I hit a puddle the cheapest tyre I put on my MX-5S now is Michelin pilot sport I have pilot sport 4s on my NB and pilot sport 5 on my ND well worth the extra money and even in wet weather the cars grip like a beast only down side with my ND on pilot sport 5s is it's really hard to even wheel spin let alone get a nice slide going dam things grip so much.
Michelin Commander 2 or 3 - I put 25k miles on a MC2 on my old sportster - they just fucking last and have decent wet, great dry traction
Never, ever try to save money on tyres!! They're what connects your car to the road, literally the most important part for safety and handling. One of the few parts where I personally go for one of the more expensive models. NO exceptions.
We just put Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all-seasons on our 2022 SEL. Range loss is about 10-15%, highway is worse than around town. Huge improvement in handling and especially wet traction makes it worth it with the winter rains (hopefully) coming.
Those tires are the lowest budget-high grip tires you can buy. Can't have everything for free, noise is to be expected with that kind of tire peformance
but the Xi2s were amazing.... and then very quickly wore from being great, to being really really poor. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde over the course of about 3500kms....... they should have had another 1-2 full seasons on them but IMO they did not wear well after 2 seasons.
