I have bought high end Michelin and mid range like Falken or Fulda. The Michelin Tires hold almost twice as long as other mid range. They also hold air better and don't rub away as fast. Handling is better and I gladly pay more for getting the best of the best.

Pros: longer lasting, better air retention, better handling

I’ve had both, and they are both good. It’s the freezing rain and ice where I think the Michelins have a bit of an advantage.

Pros: advantage in freezing rain, ice

The X-Ice in particular manage to be excellent winter tires while having very good (probably best in class) tread life.

Pros: excellent winter tires, very good tread life

MICHELIN Tires

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport All-season 4s which is the primary competitor to this tire and they’re completely useless in the snow on my 06. Great cold and wet weather tire but if you frequently need to drive in snow then get a proper winter tire.

Pros: great cold/wet weather
Cons: useless in snow
