Just put a set of DWS06's on my Golf R. They are good and comfy and have "enough" grip but definitely not as grippy as the summer tires they replaced.

Pros: good, comfy, enough grip
Cons: not as grippy as summer tires

I run grand-touring summers (H-rated Michelin Energy, used on the base Mini) on my Yaris year-'round here (Texas) and they are great, only getting a little scrabbly in sub-freezing temperatures. The summer Energy Saver (not the A/S) is the best all around tire I have ever had. Smooth, quiet, good steering response, excellent braking, tons of grip. If you slam on the brakes, it just STOPS without a bunch of scratching around and ABS intervention.

Pros: smooth, quiet, good steering, excellent braking, tons of grip
Cons: scrabbly in sub-freezing

The DWS 06 Contis are very good. I run them on my daily year-round and have had zero complaints with them. They are very good for the money and a good chunk cheaper than the Michelins, though they have been creeping up a bit in price over the last few years

Pros: very good, good value, no complaints
Cons: price creeping up
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I liked Continental DWS06s on my G37 for the street.... they were quiet and had squishy sidewalls for comfort but were grippy AF.

Pros: quiet, comfortable, grippy
Vehicle: Infiniti

Continental Tires

I normally use Nokian Hakkapeliittas on my Golf and while they still have more than enough legal tread, I don't believe they're optimum for hardpacked snow. Unfortunately, there's a waitlist for new Nokians, so I'm going with Continental Wintercontacts, which have a sterling rating.

Pros: sterling rating
Cons: waitlist for new Nokians

MICHELIN Tires

Michelin X Ice Snow for winter tires on my VW. Improved grip and stopping distance below 7C compared to all weather tires, even when there is no snow or ice.

Pros: improved grip, stopping distance

MICHELIN Tires

I received my winter set today. Since we only get a handful of actual snow days a season and most of it cleaned within hours, I went with a "performance winter" set, the Michelins pilot alpine 5.

Pros: performance winter set
