Not the 02 but I had a set of the Conti ECSs on my stage 1 MK7 R and loved them. Great wet traction, especially under power, and they were fairly quiet. I also have them on my current E92 M3 and they've stood up very well to two track days so far. Loads of dry grip.
I bought the Conti Sport 02's for my E63S and the grip is very good. If these can that much torque and weight, they should be a breeze with the R.
For summer i have been running continental extreme contact sports. They have been great and very grippy!
All season: Continental DSW06+
Summer: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Honestly though, the Continental’s held up great in summer too. Good in snow as well
Switched to DH SuperSoft Kryptotal Front w/o cushcore. Great setup. Conti DH weighs same as Assegai EXO+. More damped, faster rolling, great grip.
Been running a Xynotal Enduro soft for my rear that's been awesome.
After having less than stellar results with Maxxis tires searching for fast rolling, longevity, & with a lot of grip for the loose over hard terrain I normally ride in central Texas, I recently switched to Continental Xynotal DH casing soft compound rear tire.
It's pretty amazing on the rear. Faster rolling than the Dissector DD 3C MaxxGrip it replaced, with more grip, and much faster rolling than the Assegai 3C MaxxTerra EXO+ my Ibis Ripmo AF came with front and rear.
I went with a high rolling resistance tire that I find works well in wet weather and mountain roads , Continental pure contact LS.
Very timely thread. I've been wondering what to put on the husband's car, Continental DWS 06+ or Michelin CrossClimate2.
I think the ProContacts are known to be junk. I upgraded to Continental DWS. If those fail, I'm switching brands for life.
