ACDelco makes a brand new alternator for $95. They were the OEM for GM.
I went with RockAuto as well, but went with the AC Delco Gold Reman that was wound to have 135 Amp output instead of the OEM standard (~110 I think) I want to say it was around ~$170 with a $45 core deposit. AC Delco is a solid name in parts, and I believe was reman'd in Mexico.
2004 Limited with 310000 miles alternator went out so went to local service shop . They were able to get it in and repaired next morning other shops in the area are a week backlog.Parts we're 310.00 (Duralast alt.and Gates belt)
I went with a Duralast Gold(90A) which never gave me a issue. If I had a oscilliscope im sure it had good output.
Autozone will give lifetime warranty on certain (duralast gold maybe?) alternators. I got the replacement very wet (dumb), and it died while I was driving.
I want to hear an opinion on getting a duralast alternator and popping it in my n52 I have heard very mixed things about these parts some work fine others are trash.
I have experience with both shitty Autozone Duralast alternators and I would not purchase them.
I have shadow codes for my water pump because of it, and my voltage is not high enough at idle, and never surpasses 13.5ish volts. It whines loudly, and it doesn't make the same power as my last alternator contrary to the ratings.
I got 3 AC Delco remans from RA before they refunded my money and refused to send a 4th...The third they sent arrived fine but lasted 37 miles on the car before the front bearing locked up. Over a month of headache and ended up buying a Tuff Stuff alternator.
The refurbished Duralast alternator has worked fine for a few months but the last month I started to hear belt noise and assumed it was related to the alternator. The last couple of weeks I would smell a new unknown burnt smell that smoked like either rubber or electronics which has led me to wonder if the battery/alternator fuses have gone out.
I got a alternator from AutoZone( duralast pos) and a new battery , same thing, car started with new battery ,voltage at the battery was around 12.5 and voltage directly on the alternator was the same exact voltage as the battery which showed the alternator still wasn\u2019t charging I took that alternator out got my money back and went to a reputable alternator and starter shop around my area and got a quality rebuilt one. They tested the alternator before they gave it to me and confirmed it was in working order. I installed it and still the alternator is not charging the battery , i checked voltage directly at the new alternator and still got the same voltage as the battry while the engine was running , so its still not charging the battery or producing power
